Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to some frequently asked questions from prospective clients on my rates, practice policies, onboarding process, and more. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, feel free to ask it in the contact form and I’ll get back to you!

The cost for a 45-55 minute session is $175.

I’m an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance. However, I can provide you with a superbill that you may be able to use to receive reimbursement from your insurance company. More information about reimbursement can be found on the Getting Started page of this website.
-
To maintain accessibility, I am able to offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots to clients unable to afford the standard rate. If this applies to you, please let me know when you reach out so we can explore our options.

Once we have our initial consultation call and decide it seems like a good fit, we can schedule your first appointment. After that gets scheduled, you'll receive an email invitation to get signed up for the TherapyNotes Client Portal. You’ll then be able to complete all of the intake paperwork required to start meeting for therapy with me.
-
During the first few appointments, we'll get to know each other and explore your objectives for therapy. We'll review any questions you have about the intake paperwork and my practice policies, discuss your hopes and expectations for the process, and identify an initial focus for our work. I'll share my impressions and feedback, and together we'll develop a plan for therapy that supports your self-determined goals. If you decide that you'd like to move forward with the plan, you will attend regular therapy sessions with me either in person at my office or virtually.
-
Participation in therapy with me is completely voluntary and you have the right to discontinue our work together at any time. If it doesn't feel right, or something isn't clicking, I invite you to talk with me directly about any roadblocks that are coming up. If you're uncomfortable doing so (for whatever reason), that's okay too! Assuming it makes sense to do so, it can also be helpful to schedule a closing session to review your progress, address any remaining concerns, and discuss recommendations or referrals to support your continued well-being.
-
Sessions are typically 45-55 minutes long. I provide this range to allow us to devote 45 minutes to the therapy itself, with a 10-minute buffer to wind things down and take care of any housekeeping.
-
It depends! This is not a one-size-fits-all process. You get to determine what feels most beneficial to you in terms of the frequency of our appointments and how long we continue meeting. It can be helpful to meet on a weekly basis to start, so we can develop rapport and a strong foundation for the therapeutic relationship. But again, how often we meet and how long your therapy continues is pretty much up to you! I trust you to know when you are ready to wrap up or pause the process, although I do encourage you to let me know when that time comes so we can plan for a thoughtful conclusion (or intermission) to our work together.
-
I do not answer calls or check messages while I am meeting with clients, outside of my regular business hours, or when I am otherwise unavailable. If you leave a voicemail or send me an email, I will respond as soon as reasonably possible. For non-urgent matters, please allow up to three business days for a response. Please note that email and voicemail should not be used for emergencies or situations requiring an immediate response.
-
Due to the fact that I am a solo private practitioner and based upon my schedule, I am not available for emergencies that occur outside of sessions.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or feel that you are unable to keep yourself or someone else safe, please:
Go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
Contact the Rapid Response Access Point at 1-833-710-6477.
Call 911 or your local emergency services.
-
You are required to provide a valid credit or debit card to keep on file with me prior to your first appointment. You will be able to provide this information as part of your intake paperwork via the Client Portal. The card you keep on file will be automatically charged for the agreed-upon amount (either the full fee or a previously established sliding scale fee) after each session, unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
-
Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, I ask that you please provide me with at least 24 hours' notice. If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours’ notice, or no-call/no-show a scheduled appointment, you may be charged a $50 cancellation fee. The fee will automatically be charged to the card on file the day of the missed appointment.
-
You will join telehealth sessions via the TherapyNotes Client Portal (you’ll receive an email invitation to set up your login prior to our first session). The link to join is the same every time. TherapyNotes ensures that our telehealth appointments take place on a secure and HIPAA-compliant platform. You can join from the browser on your phone, tablet, or computer. Make sure you have a private and quiet place where you can meet for the duration of the appointment, with minimal distractions.
